2008 RULES AND REGULATIONS

With the exception of the following modifications and clarifications, CIF Rules shall govern play.

  1. ELIGIBLE PLAYERS must be in the school grade (or below) of the designated divisions. JV must be currently sophomore or below. Varsity must be currently Senior and below. All teams must have proof-of-grade eligibility documents available at all games. Before any team can participate in the Tournament, the tournament fee must be paid in full and a roster/release form, signed by parent or guardian of each player, is on file with the division director. Failure to provide this information (if requested) may result in forfeiture of games and participation. NO REFUNDS
    All teams must wear a basketball numbered jersey, shorts and tennis shoes.
    Jerseys will be tucked inside shorts.  Undershirts maybe worn. However, they shall be the same or predominant color as the jersey.
     
  2. Any coach or assistant coach that is rejected from a gym during the tournament will expelled from the tournament. This coach will not be allowed to coach or attend ANY further games in the tournament.
     
  3. All divisions will have TWENTY (20) MINUTE RUNNING HALVES. The last 2 minutes of the 2nd half will be regulation time. The clock will stop for all time outs and technicals. Half time will be 3 minutes.
  4. TIMEOUTS Each team will have FOUR (4) timeouts per game. Teams will have ONE (1) timeout per overtime period. Coaches or players can call timeouts.
     
  5. BONUS FREE THROWS - After 10th teams foul, TWO (2) free throws will be awarded.
     
  6. OVERTIME will consist of THREE (3) minutes of running clock with a stop clock for the last minute. 2nd OT period is 2 minutes, 3rd OT period is 1 minute, and 4th OT period is Sudden Death.
     
  7. SHOT CLOCK There will be NO 30 second shot clock. 10 second back court violations will be called.
     
  8. POSSESSION An alternating out-of-bounds procedure on all jump ball situations will be effect, except at the beginning of the game and each extra period.
     
  9. SLAUGHTER RULE In the event that a team is leading its opponent by TWENTY (20) points or more in the final quarter of play, running clock will be effect during the last two minutes.
     
  10. TIE BREAKER SYSTEM IN CASE OF POOL PLAY
    Only the statistics from the teams involved the tie will determine the outcome of the seeding. Order of precedence to be used in breaking ties in total record as follows:
  1. Head-to-head competition
  2. Point differential (only teams tied and MAX of +13)
  3. Least points allowed
  4. Flip of a coin

Tournament Director(s) will have final decision on all matters.
